Qumbe – Millet porridge

Ingredients

  • ½ cup millet (or cornmeal)
  • 2 cups water or milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: ½ tsp ground cardamom or cinnamon

Preparation

  • Cook millet: In a pot, bring water or milk to a boil. Gradually stir in millet and salt.
  • Simmer: Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes until thick and creamy.
  • Sweeten: Stir in sugar or honey and cardamom or cinnamon (if using).
  • Serve: Serve warm in bowls, topped with extra honey if desired.
