Malawax (Cardamom crepe)

A sweet, flaky crepe scented with cardamom, served with butter, sugar, or honey for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Butter or honey, for serving
Preparation (30 minutes):
  1. Make batter: Whisk flour, milk, egg, sugar, cardamom, and salt until smooth. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook crepes: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Pour ¼ cup batter, swirling to spread thinly. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until golden.
  3. Serve: Stack crepes and serve warm with butter or honey.
Tip: Double the cardamom for a stronger flavor. Serve with Somali tea for authenticity.
