Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed on Tuesday held a phone call with US secretary of state Marco Rubio to discuss “shared goals for stability and economic growth in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa”, State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce.
“The secretary underscored the need for dialogue and regional stability,” Bruce added.
“Secretary Rubio commended Ethiopia’s economic reforms, highlighting their potential to expand opportunities for U.S. trade and investment.”
There was no immediate word from Abiy’s office or Ethiopia’s foreign ministry on the call
